  1. Hi Deborah,
I've been following your blog since then and I was inspired with your relationship. I hope you and your kimchiboy are doing great :)

Actually, I have a KOrean boyfriend and he was my first boyfriend on my entire life. In just one week we became a couple then go on a date for a few times.

He always tell me that it is alright for me to get angry, but because I'm the type of person who doesn't get angry then he said that our relationship will be more deeper because we can learn from it. My question for you, I'm sorry if its too sensitive, but how do yoy manage your relationship after the misunderstanding? does your relationship become more deeper?

Thank you deborah. I hopr everything goes well between you and kimchiboy. More years and forever :)

    1. Hello :)

Thank you for this message. Don't worry, I am always happy to share my experiences. Glad to know that you also have a Korean boyfriend! (You guys are still together right?)

Well, Kimchi boy & I quarrel alot. What make things worst is that we are in a long distance relationship. We usually talk about what happened and how we were both feeling, after each quarrel. Basically, just being honest about what we thought and how we felt. I agree with your boyfriend that the relationship does get deeper after a misunderstanding, BUT that is provided that you guys did talk about it after the incident and try to understand each other's feelings.

Yes, our relationship is much closer because we try to accept each other's differences and understand why the other party is thinking a certain way in a conflict.

Was/is yours a long distance relationship too?

  2. Hi Deborah,
Thank you for answering my question. I really appreciate it :).

My boyfriend is currently an exchange student for six months. Actually, we met because our original intention was to practice our English but then some sparks glitters after we met. Everyday, my friends would always say I'm happy and blooming so I thought that was the effect of him hihihi :)

We had a conflict from a while because he had this experienced from his first gf about sensitive thing. His ex gf would always talked about sensitive things and now, what I think he hasn't fully recover about it. Actually he's very careful with me and he will always asked me if he can hold my hands, but everytime he wants to go far, I always tell him that I'm not into doing sensitive things and he will apologize. I think the effect of his past relationship really triggers his intimacy desire, I like him and I want to help him realize that love itself is precious even without doing it. I trust him and respect him. After our little misunderstanding, he feels sorry and guilty but I don't want him to feel that way because I know it's natural and we need to be open from each other.

Can you give some advice if I'm doing the right thing? because I'm really confused.

Thank you Deborah :) I'm really happy that you've answer my question.

    1. Wow! I am happy that you have decided to leave a message :)

I am so curious - Which school is he from (in Korea) and which school is he attached to? Are you Singaporean?

Hmm, my boyfriend always says that Koreans usually do not keep in contact after a relationship ends so I find it rare that your boyfriend still talks to his ex. But every person is different. I think it is cute that he asks if he cant hold your hands before holding it! hahaha. I agree with you that love is more than just being intimate. As for my boyfriend and I, because we are both christians so we make it a point to keep our relationship as simple as possible. You have to find out what works best for you and your boyfriend and reach a mutual agreement - talk to him about whether it is ok to do something or not.

If he is an exchange student I assume that six months from now you guys will be in a long distance relationship (if you two are still together). Have you thought about that? Long distance relationship itself is a challenge on its own!

  3. Hi Deborah,
Thank you for answering me. I really appreciate it :)

Sorry if I wasn't able to reply earlier because I was kind of busy from school works.

By the way, I'm from Southeast asia Phil. :)

He studies in a Univesity at Daegu.

Actually since last week and this week we haven't text everyday. Before I used to text him like cheer up and motivational message for his finals. But i'm just curious, do Guys really focus on what should they do? and most of the time I'm the one who's initiating the text. BUt lately I think I need to give him some time to do his own world.
This week I'm waiting if he will text me after his finals, but I'm not really expecting... I hope he will text me soon cause I really miss him.

I have Korean friends since I was in high school so I knew some of their characteristics. And I really understand it.

Maybe it's just because I'm a first timer that's why I feel like this :(

I'm really sorry if my reply is like this, deborah.

Thank you. Really. I hope we'll become friends :)

    1. Its ok :) I am also busy with school!

Oh, are you from the Philippines?

Actually communication is really important, you should not stop texting/calling him! Hmm.. every guy is different. For my boyfriend, he is quite focus when he studies or when he is busy at work! He is also very sticky, always texting me and calling me especially if I don't contact him for a period of time.

I hope we become friends too! :) It's nice meeting other similar couples too. Shall we contact through email? Reply me at deborahcheok@hotmail.com !
