I was born in April 1991 to a Taiwanese mother and Singaporean father. My mother is from Kaohsiung City, a beautiful coastal city in the Southern part of Taiwan, and a place where I visit my Taiwan family regularly. There will always be a part of me that is Taiwanese & I am proud of that.
I was brought up in a christian family with a Chinese-speaking mother and an English-speaking father. My sister is one year younger than me. Before getting married, my parents were also in a long distance relationship. As I follow in their footsteps, I begin to learn about the joy, pain, sorrows and patience of being in a long distance relationship. It has been more than 20 years now but my mother still struggles with English. I wonder if it will be the same for me when I live in Korea one day. Will my kids laugh at my broken Korean? It has been an interesting journey to learn about his culture, language, food, lifestyle & so much more (there were also frustrating moments)!
I am a final year student at the National University of Singapore. I also have a Diploma in Banking & Financial Services from Nanyang Polytehnic. As a very a rebellious teenager, those years brought a lot of heartache to my parents. But I thank my parents for their never ending love, patience and commitment to raise such a difficult child. I also thank God for everything that I have achieved till date because without God's grace, I would not be where I am today.
